Will the remnant of us become the fossil for future lives millennia after the destruction of human civilization?
“Bensínstöð” is the Icelandic word for gas station. Inspired by the unique landscape of Iceland–which some geologists continue to describe as one of the newest ecosystems in the world—and the recent volcanic activities there, this collage invokes the imagery of an abandoned, post-apocalyptic wasteland. A relic of the past, the abandoned gas station is juxtaposed with the blossoming moss of the Icelandic pasture, challenging us to think about global warming and climate change.
